You’ve probably heard the saying, “every little bit helps.” Well, this applies to moving your body too! There are many chances throughout the day where you can sneak in a little exercise.
Think about it like this:

- Vacuuming the house (yep, pushing that vacuum counts as cardio!)
- Weeding the garden (your legs and arms get a good workout)
- Taking the dog for an extra walk (bonus points if you add a hill)
- Playing Marco Polo with the kids (way more fun than just sitting by the pool)
- Shooting hoops in the driveway with the kids (even five minutes gets your heart pumping)
- Parking farther away at the shops (those extra steps add up fast)
- Carrying the groceries in one trip (hello, farmer’s carry workout!)
- Taking the stairs instead of the lift (your legs will thank you later)
- Dancing while cooking or cleaning (bonus: the kids will laugh and maybe join in)
Change How You See It
A lot of people look at these things as chores or time-wasters. But what if you flipped it around? What if you thought of them as bonus workouts that also get other stuff done? Suddenly, you’re moving more, having fun, and boosting your energy without needing extra hours at the gym.
It’s like getting two things for the price of one. You get your chores done and sneak in exercise.
Make the Boring Stuff Fun
I’m all about being efficient. One of my favourite tips is to match a chore you don’t love with something fun you enjoy.
For example:
- Listen to your favourite podcast for when you vacuum or make dinner.
- Turn laundry time into “me time”: audiobook in your ears, face mask on your skin, chores getting done
- Watch your favourite show while stretch.

Now, that boring task doesn’t feel so bad. You’re ticking off two boxes at once, and even treating yourself a little.
Why This Works
- It doesn’t take extra time you’re just using your day smarter.
- It keeps you moving, which makes you feel stronger and healthier.
- It helps you build a habit of staying active without overthinking it.
Remember: you don’t need to run a marathon or hit the gym every day to stay healthy. Small moves, stacked up, turn into big results over time.
So next time you’re about to groan about chores, remind yourself: this is your sneaky workout.
Win-win-win.
Your turn!
