The Secret of Mindfulness Revealed

In the quest for self-love and mindfulness, a multitude of strategies is often advocated, leaving us overwhelmed with the sheer number of things we should be doing such as:

The list seems endless and attempting to incorporate all of these into our daily routine can often lead to feelings of failure. This is how mindful experts want you to feel, so that you keep coming back and buying from them.

That is when I realised that the secret lies not in doing it all but in selecting one practice that resonates and committing to it wholeheartedly. Rather than spreading yourself thin across various techniques, focus on one that feels most aligned with your preferences and goals.

If, for instance, you choose to embark on a daily 15-minute journaling session, make a commitment to stick to it each day for at least 28 days. The magic lies in the consistency of your chosen practice, not in attempting to juggle multiple activities simultaneously. Establishing a routine with one thing creates a foundation for success.

As you become comfortable and find your rhythm with the chosen practice, you may discover the space to add more techniques or enhance your existing routine. The key is to start with one and gradually build upon. However, it’s entirely acceptable if you opt not to add anything more. The pivotal factor is the commitment to doing one thing consistently, even if it’s just for 15 minutes each day.

I know personally I alternate between meditation and journaling in the mornings for 10 to 15 minutes when I wake up and most evenings I take my dog for a walk listening to either music or something educational.

By sticking to this personal routine ensures that I carve out dedicated time for rejuvenation and refreshment. However, when I am inconsistent or stop this routine (because I feel fabulous) I notice my thoughts becoming scattered, akin to a restless ‘monkey mind,’ and my mood tends to take over.

Results are born out of dedication and consistency, not the multitude of practices attempted but left incomplete. Choose wisely, commit sincerely, and witness the transformative power of mindful consistency in your life.
