My children absolutely love Monster Mash; they relish its diverse yet simple flavours and delectable taste. Personally, I find joy in preparing Monster Mash for them, given its simplicity, rich flavours, and healthful attributes.
When scouting for dinner recipes, I typically consider three key criteria:
- Simple to make,
- Kids will eat it
- Healthy filled to protein and vegetables.
Monster Mash ticks all the boxes, offering not only a convenient but also a thoroughly satisfying option for our family dinners.

Equipment
- 1 Mircowave Rice Cooker https://www.tupperware.com.au/products/micro-rice-cooker-large
Ingredients
Rice
- 1 cup Rice (washed)
- 1 cup Snap Frozen Carrot Peas & Corn
- 2 cups Water
- Pink Himalayan Salt (to taste)
Mince Patties
- 600 grams Beef Mince
- 1 large Egg

To Serve
- 4 cups Shredded Cabbage
- 2 cups Chicken Stock (any stock works)

Instructions
Rice
- Find a microwave-safe container or pot (I use the Tupperware Ricke Cooker https://www.tupperware.com.au/products/micro-rice-cooker-large)
- Add the rice, salt, frozen carrot peas & corn an water into the microwave-safe container or pot.
- Stir the rice blend and then securely cover it with a lid.
- Microwave for 12 minutes then give the rice a mix with a spoon. Note: Remember to use oven mitts when taking your container out of the microwave.
- Microwave for another 8 minutes. Let rest covered for 5 minutes then give it a mix.
- Give the rice a quick taste. Does it need more time? If so, cover and cook for an additional 1 minute on high.

Mince Patties
- Place all ingredients in a bowl, and mix thoroughly with your hands preferably. I used food handling disposable gloves
- Evenly split the mixture into four parts and mold each portion into patties, mirroring the classic hamburger style.
- Air fry the patties at 180℃ for 12-14 minutes for a medium doneness. Adjust the cooking duration to your liking by extending it for a heartier cook or reducing it for a less-cooked preference.

- Remove from oven and allow burgers to rest for 5 minutes to continue cooking
Monster Mash to Serve
- Combine 1 cup of shredded cabbage and ½ cup of chicken stock, then microwave the mixture for 2 minutes.

- Finish by placing your desired amount of rice along with one beef patty on top of the cabbage.

- Season to taste with Parmesan Cheese and Chilli Flakes (if desired).
- Enjoy your Monster Mash.
