The Enchanted Forest that is Belair National Park

Here in Adelaide we are so lucky with some of our national parks. There is one in particular that I really enjoy, and that is Belair National Park. It has beautiful forest lake and wildlife with good walking tracks, an adventure playground for the kids and a wonderful lake.

On any given day you can find walkers (many with dogs), joggers, cyclists and maybe even a horse rider. But even better to look out for is the wildlife. A variety of birdlife along with kangaroos, koalas and turtles are plentiful, but more hidden are some emus, rabbits and echidnas. Unfortunately you must also look out for snakes in the warmer weather!

Walking through the national park is a peaceful, relaxing and refreshing experience. I find it really clears my mind and after an hour or so I realise that I have changed my perspective on some issues that I may have been stressing over. Getting back out in nature can bring you back to earth. Exercise and fresh air are important but there is something even more magical and therapeutic about being immersed in nature.

Of course, after such an experience a coffee is always the go! Insiders tip: Sheoak Café on Sheoak Rd, Belair.

I really recommend giving Belair National Park a visit to help clear your mind or enjoy some special family time, but if you can’t get to Belair then look up your local national park and give it a go!
