Rise to Reign: The Art of Constructing Your Life’s Empire

Life is a wild ride, peppered with moments that prompt us to contemplate the roads not taken. I often catch myself in these reflective moments, pondering the alternate realities shaped by different choices. What if I hadn’t prioritised staying fit and healthy? Would I be grappling with excess weight today? Or, if I had done a different university course, would my life have ventured down a completely different trajectory?

Here’s the undeniable truth: We can’t change the past (none of us can); we are where we are due to the decisions we have made. The good news is we can write the future.

The decisions we make today will either actively construct our empires or, unwittingly, dismantle them. It might sound a tad dramatic, but take my word for it – it’s a universal truth that transcends every aspect of our lives!

Let’s break it down: Slacking off means losing out on opportunities, whether it’s in your hustle or your personal quest for greatness.

If you are overweight, it is because of the decisions you made, whether it be not exercising or eating properly.

If your relationship has lost the romance, it is because you have stopped making the effort (when was the last time you wore sexy lingerie for your partner?) or you have chosen to accept the way your partner treats you without moving away.

If your kids are misbehaving, rude or not listening, it is because you have allowed them to be that way without enforcing boundaries.

If your business/career is not thriving, it is because of the choices you made by staying in the job, not getting additional education, or working on your side hustle.

I think you get the idea. Wherever you are, it’s because of the choices you made, and we cannot blame anyone else.

Now, here’s the good news: You hold the power to choose improvement at any time. Regardless of the situation, your choices will help improve or decline the situation – there’s no sitting on the side-lines (if you take this approach, usually it means decline)!

Hence, the choice is simple – actively contribute and make decisions that move you towards your purpose and the rise of your empire or passively watch the decline and sit around complaining.

I know what you are thinking (as I think this myself): you make it sound so easy. Remember I said “simple,” not “easy.” I know from personal experience it will be challenging – saying no to cake and alcohol while watching others indulge, going for a walk instead of watching TV, stopping associations with friends who bring you down, or getting up early to work on your goals.

I can tell you the hardest part will be not getting the results instantly, as we live in such an instant gratification society. However, if you can persevere, I am telling you, your results will be OUTSTANDING. I can get into this more; however, Ed Mylett’s Podcast “The Echo of Life” explains this concept beautifully. I recommend listening to it.
