Make your Relationship AWESOME not just GREAT

Every relationship has ups and down. There is no such thing as a perfect relationship because a perfect human being doesn’t exist. Well not past an Instagram reel.

You can make your relationship awesome by being aligned with your goals and setting clear priorities. Most importantly this is having joint and personal goals so that you work as a team and support each other to reach them.

Ask yourself: “Do my individual goals bring us (the relationship) closer to… or further from our joint goals?”

Your individual goals must align with your shared goals. If they don’t then you will need to tweak your personal goals to ensure that you are aligned. This will help ensure that you and your partner are working as a team to achieve your goals together. Otherwise, you will find yourself in meaningless arguments about priorities and who is right and wrong.

How do you determine your purpose and goals?

You will need to become clear on what you want. Some great questions to consider are: What are you and your partner trying to achieve? What is it that you want? What type of family life? Financial goals do you want? Who do you want to help? What difference do you want to make?

My husband and I, enjoy working and helping others achieve their goals however we do like to travel and play too. Another aspect was that we wanted a family where the kids see us working and helping others doing what we love while at the same time we are active parents spending time with them and teaching them to be the best that they can be. To do this we acknowledged that we need and want financial freedom plus wealth so we can do help others and do what we want when we want.

We started investing in properties to grow our money and getting self-education to develop ourselves. We also knew that long-term business was the vehicle we wanted to use to make the biggest impact and generate wealth.

How do you identify roles and responsibilities?

Start by identifying the strengths and weaknesses of each person and then look for ways to ensure that the strengths are being capitalised on.

I started many businesses and wasn’t successful as I was not utilising my strengths, my partner’s strengths or the strengths of the relationship to the fullest.

That is when we realised that it would be best for my husband to focus on the business as he has the passion and vision for health and fitness together. We know this is the right choice as his business D8 training has been experiencing success and growth month on month due to the exceptional customer service and results he provides his clients. This is able to happen through his structure, focus on the goal and dedication and my ability to support him.

I am the Chief Family Officer plus my corporate career which provides personal development and growth for me and a consistent income so we can invest in the business and live the life we want. I know this is working well as the kids are thriving, and we are all happy as we are growing and contributing.

Once we got clearer on our common goals, our personal goals and how we would work together a lot of petty arguments stopped and we gelled and started working as a team as opposed to silos. We had our purpose and were both travelling down the same road.

Supporting one another and being each other’s biggest cheerleaders is what will make your relationship awesome. It is a mindset shift based on what society coins as normal. As Elena Cardone says, “Your partner is NOT your enemy. The greatest act of love is when you support your partner to achieve their goals.”.

Are you and your partner aligned? If not take the time to sit down and go over what you want to achieve together what are your big goals and personal goals?
